A ten-minute walk from campus, Lyon House sits on the edge of Sherborne – giving boys a strong sense of independence. The daily walk becomes time to reflect, chat and unwind, and helps foster deep friendships across year groups.
That spirit of connection runs throughout the House. Lyon boys pull together – as shown by the legendary Lyon to Lyons cycle ride in 2017, which raised a significant sum for charity and became a proud part of House folklore.
With a large garden, generous social spaces and its own distinctive identity, Lyon offers room to grow while upholding Sherborne’s shared values.
Housemaster
David Murray
David read Physics and Mathematics at Dublin City University and began his teaching career at Lingfield College, where he was Head of Year. He joined Sherborne in 2016, teaching Physics, and has served as Head of PSHEE and Resident Tutor of The Digby. He became Housemaster of Lyon in 2023. David coaches football and tennis and still plays league football.
He lives in House with his partner, Jess – a deputy head at a local primary school – and their young family..
