Girls stay in their mixed age houses until L6 and then move to the Upper Sixth house, Mulliner, in their final year. This allows the whole year group to be together as they prepare for the transition from school to university. The organisation and management of the house is designed to introduce the girls to a more independent environment and way of life closer to that of an undergraduate in a hall of residence. Mulliner is purpose-built and provides individuals with their own study bedrooms. It enjoys lovely, south facing views, plenty of bathrooms, a kitchen, snug, drawing room and dining room - and a light, open plan, yet homely feel to its communal areas. Guests are welcome and girls are able to take advantage of numerous social events, many of which are offered jointly with Sherborne School. These include informal suppers and formal dinners. Life in Mulliner brings both enjoyment and personal development, and girls gain great satisfaction in ‘working hard and playing hard’. The aim of Mulliner is to provide an environment that enables the girls to reach their academic potential, while providing a safe space in which they can find out who they are as an adult. |

Housemistress |
|
Kristy GammackKirsty joined Sherborne Girls as Assistant Housemistress of Mulliner in September 2022 having previously worked for eight years in the state sector where she held a variety of roles, including Associate Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Head of Social Sciences. Kirsty is an experienced A-Level Psychology teacher who has a deep interest in continuously learning about the world and people around her. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with loved ones, exploring the coast and reading. The final year at Sherborne Girls is very special and something that pupils work towards throughout their time at the school. In Mulliner, we foster a inclusive, warm, supportive community where friendships flourish, academics are balanced with engaging house activities, and personal well-being is a priority. Moving into Mulliner is a rite of passage in itself and a successful year will see them become the person they really want to be when they leave Sherborne. Kirsty's aim is to enable the pupils to exercise independence and take responsibility for their personal and academic ambitions, so they leave Sherborne Girls confident, open-minded, considerate and aware of their future capabilities. This year is what the girls make of it and the whole Mulliner team is behind them! |
