Since the formation of Sherborne Schools Group (SSG) last year, we have been developing a strategy for both the Group and each individual school. Our shared vision is to be recognised as the UK’s leading group of independent schools, known for a character-led approach that blends academic excellence, personal growth, wellbeing, and 21st-century skills.
We’re heart and centre of our beautiful town, with the countryside fanning out behind us like a film set. The best of both? We think so.
We do all the serious stuff, of course.
Academic ambition, pastoral care, preparation for senior schools – but we lace it with joy. With spontaneity. With Colour Runs, wild ideas and one or two Shakespeare flash mobs. Our children are seen, stretched, supported – and sent home exhausted (in the best way).
So, What Makes Us Different?
It’s never boring.
While one day we’re in classrooms, the next we’re medieval knights in a jousting match. Cross-curricular days erupt with costumes, music and laughter – and staff are every bit as involved as the pupils. Parents too if they’re brave.
Think Earth Days (with cardboard Attenborough's), Book-at-Breakfasts, Colour Runs and enough school trips to require their own spreadsheet. It’s full-throttle learning with a side of marshmallow.
All this sits within our skills-based framework, shaping curious, confident learners who think for themselves, work well with others and step into the world ready for whatever comes next.
All in, all the time.
Co-Curricular? Try co-everything.
Bouldering, orchestras, gymnastics, creative writing, coding, swim squads, drama, debating, boxercise – you name it, they’re doing it. And loving it.
Our pupils grab every opportunity with both hands. They are celebrated for their individuality and championed by teachers who know when to cheer, when to challenge, and when to just get out of the way and watch them shine.
And boarding? Think bonfires, film nights, beach days, and a home-from-home led by people who care. Some children come for a night. Others never want to leave.
At the centre of it all: our Dragon Values. Kindness. Honesty. Perseverance. Awareness. Generosity. Independence.
Rooted in Values. Ready for life.
They’re not just words. They shape how we treat each other, how we play, how we grow.
They help us raise children who are thoughtful, resilient, and wonderfully themselves. This isn’t just a school. It’s a launchpad. A warm hug. A place where magic is real and growing up doesn’t have to mean growing dull.
