Hanford Prep at a Glance
Having fun and working hard.
Hanford Prep teaches girls to combine having fun with working hard. A strong and committed teaching staff seek to bring out the best in each and every girl. This combination of fun and hard work pays dividends when it comes to academic results and Scholarships.
Small but Mighty
Class sizes are small normally 10-12 and learning support is available if required.
Alongside the core curriculum, girls are taught Handwork (our form of Design and Technology) and Art Appreciation (Art Appré) where they can begin to understand and appreciate the cultural world around them. Music has always been central to life at Hanford with almost all girls learning at least one instrument or joining one of the choirs, orchestra or ensembles, and folk group; music composition is also offered as an activity.
Sport is incredibly strong at Hanford Prep– recent successes have seen our teams excel in county championships in rounders, tennis and athletics. This year Hanford came second in the NSEA's national show jumping competition, an amazing achievement!
Hanford Ponies
Hanford is perhaps most famous for its ponies and stables - most girls choosing to have riding lessons with some testing their equestrian skills at local and national events including our very own Tetrathlon.
Girls can bring their own pony or ride one of the Hanford ponies.
Hanford girls make dens, climb trees and, in the summer, ride before breakfast. They make their own clothes and develop as free spirits.
They learn resilience, confidence and a sense of adventure and they develop friendships which will last a lifetime.
They also learn to work hard which is why Hanford Prep achieves excellent academic results.
Over the past 10 years girls have been offered in excess of 100 scholarship or exhibition awards in all disciplines - all round, academic, art, music, performing arts and sport.
