Life in House

Eight Houses – one shared spirit.

Ask any boy, and he’ll tell you his House is the best. Each one has its own character – but they are united by a shared ethos, strong friendships, and a deep sense of belonging.

Sherborne Boys has eight Boarding Houses, each home to around 70 boys across all year groups. Day boys are also part of the House system and play a full role in community life.

At the heart of each House is a dedicated team. The Housemaster, Matrons and Tutors work closely together to support every boy – getting to know him, guiding his progress, and helping him thrive both personally and academically.

Much of this support comes from the boys themselves.

Senior pupils look out for the younger ones – offering encouragement, sharing experience, and setting the tone through kindness and compassion.

This daily, lived community creates something special. Every House feels like a family – warm, supportive and full of life. Boys are known, respected and valued, and they know how to care for others in return.

The Houses reflect Sherborne Boys as a whole: rooted in values, rich in tradition, and committed to helping every pupil grow.

Few foundations for life are stronger.
