Modern Languages at Hanford Prep

At our school, we believe learning languages opens doors — helping girls understand the world, think creatively, and appreciate different cultures.

Our Languages Department offers a lively, supportive environment where every child can grow in confidence and develop a love of communication

From Year 3, pupils begin their language journey with French, building strong foundations that are complemented by the study of Latin. We also offer Spanish, German, and Italian through fun and engaging extracurricular clubs and activities.

Language learning goes far beyond the classroom.  At Hanford, all girls enjoy exciting cultural trips, pen-pal projects, and interactive workshops. They visit historical sites, museums, and classical ruins, bringing lessons to life and connecting with the cultures they study. A favourite highlight is our trip to Château de la Baudonnière, where girls experience French culture firsthand through immersive, hands-on activities.

Through expert teaching and enriching experiences, we inspire curious, confident young people with a lifelong enthusiasm for languages an the world around them.
