Life in the Fifth Form
Pupils aged 13+ join Year 9, known as Lower Fifth (L5). Year 10 is known as Middle Fifth (M5) and Year 11 Upper Fifth (U5).
Pupils in these year groups enjoy an outstanding breadth of subjects across their curriculum. Our teaching staff value, and take advantage of, the depth of creative opportunities and the opportunities to explore new languages that is available to the girls at this stage of their education.
We Focus on the Girl Herself.
Learning is centred around the Sherborne Girls’ Transferable Skills Profile providing a focus on individual learning styles, encouraging exploration of academic interests and intellectual curiosity as well as a love of learning.
In the L5, girls are supported by their personal tutor and Head of Year when making decisions regarding their GCSE options for M5 and U5, ensuring they remain motivated and stretched academically. Whilst preparation for external examinations is key, we continue to place great emphasis on our enrichment programme.
