Drama at Sherborne Prep
Curtains up, confidence on – everyone has a part to play.
At Sherborne Prep, drama is not just for the born performers – it is for everyone. From the quiet thinkers to the budding thespians, all our pupils are given the chance to step into the spotlight (or behind it). Whether they are mastering monologues, building props, or working the lighting rig, children discover new ways to express themselves and grow in confidence.
There is something magical about transforming a theatre into a medieval castle or a moonlit forest – and even more magical when it is done by the children themselves.
A Stage for Every Story
Each pupil enjoys a weekly drama lesson packed with games, improvisation, and storytelling.
Throughout the year, there are countless chances to perform – from full-scale productions to smaller showcases. For those who want to stretch themselves further, our Saturday Activities programme embraces musical theatre, drama skills and we offer the chance to study drama for NEA assessment.
It is not about creating stars (although we have had a few). It is about giving every child a voice – and the courage to use it.
Pathways, Performances, & Proud Moments
Our drama programme opens doors.
Several Sherborne Prep pupils have secured drama scholarships to top senior schools – testament to the strength of our teaching and the enthusiasm of our young performers. But beyond scholarships and spotlights, it is about the buzz of the rehearsal room, the joy of teamwork, and the rush of that final bow.
Because at Sherborne Prep, the stage is not just where performances happen – it is where confidence is born.
