A Playground Like No Other
More than matches – movement, joy, and a whole lot of muddy knees.
At Sherborne Prep, we don’t just have sports facilities – we have an adventure playground with scoreboards. With over 20 grass pitches, three sports halls, two indoor swimming pools, four Astroturfs, and tennis courts in every format, our pupils step out daily into world- class spaces designed for play, precision and passion.
Add in fives courts, a shooting range, and climbing walls (vertical and bouldering), and you’ve got something for every child – whether they’re leaping, sprinting, flipping or aiming. It’s a campus made for energy – and our pupils use every square metre of it.
But it’s not just about what we’ve got. It’s how we use it. From structured timetables to spontaneous games, sport at Sherborne Prep pulses with purpose and energy.

Every Child, Every Chance
From our tiniest Pre-Preppers to our Year 8 dynamos, every child steps onto the carousel of sport.
Rugby, football, hockey, netball and cricket sit alongside athletics, tennis, cross-country, gymnastics and swimming – and that’s just the start. Whether your child dreams of trophies or just wants to give it a go, there’s space to explore, enjoy and grow.
We play to win – of course we do. But more than that, we play to learn. To try. To fall down and laugh and try again.
It’s about building confidence and celebrating every personal best, no matter where it lands on the scoreboard.
Driving This is Our Exceptional Team of Specialist Coaches
They are passionate professionals who bring serious expertise and a brilliant sense of fun.
Our specialist coaches and teaching staff work across Sherborne Prep and both Sherborne Boys and Sherborne Girls to deliver outstanding coaching, training and mentoring.
Whether it’s refining footwork on the pitch, unlocking technique in the pool, or guiding a young player to their first ever try, our coaches bring out the best – with care, challenge and encouragement in every session.
Movement for Life
Sport at Sherborne Prep is built on one big idea: every child should move, belong, and feel proud of what their body can do.
Our aim is simple – for every pupil to be active, represent the school, and leave us ready for a lifetime of movement.
That might mean a star turn in a match or a proud personal milestone – swimming a length, scoring a first goal, discovering a love of running. With inclusive fixtures, supportive teams and specialist guidance, pupils build strong bodies, strong minds and healthy habits that last well beyond Year 8.
Here, success isn’t just found in medals and match reports – it’s in the joy of playing together, trying something new, and knowing you’ve done your best.
