Mrs Sophie Blewitt

Director of Studies

As Director of Studies, Sophie oversees the academic administration of the School, leading on examinations, reporting, assessment and pupil tracking as well as taking responsibility for the timetable. Sophie works closely with the Senior Deputy Head, The Director of Sixth Form, the Assistant Head (Teaching and Learning) and the Heads of Department to ensure that the pupils’ academic profiles are well known to their teachers, allowing them to plan highly effective lessons and interventions.

Head of Modern Foreign Languages

Prior to starting at Sherborne Girls in 2020 as Head of Modern Foreign Languages, Sophie was a Head of Year, languages teacher and Head of Professional Development at Ryde School with Upper Chine on the Isle of Wight, where she was also part of the Academic Management Team of the school. 

Having studied French and Italian with European Studies at the University of Bath, Sophie worked in Italy for a year before returning to teach English and EAL at Dauntsey's School and then completed a PGCE at the University of Oxford. Whilst teaching French and English in the state-maintained sector, Sophie gained an MSc from the University of Oxford in Learning and Teaching. 

Whilst at Sherborne Girls, she has been the Head of Languages, Assistant Head of Professional Development and a non-residential tutor in both Aldhelmsted East and Mulliner.
