Our Vision
At Sherborne Girls, we provide a transformative education that honours our rich traditions while preparing girls to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Rooted in academic excellence, guided by character, and inspired by innovation, we aim to develop not only successful pupils, but confident, courageous, and compassionate young women—leaders, creators, and changemakers who will make a meaningful difference.
Our Strategic Pillars —
Our strategic pillars bring this vision to life. They translate the Sherborne Girls ethos into everyday learning, personal growth, and innovative experiences, equipping every girl with the skills, resilience, and values to navigate complex challenges and contribute responsibly to society. Our Strategic Plan for 2024 and beyond is summarised in this booklet and below:
Sherborne Girls is a community cultivating ethical, innovative, and globally-minded leaders prepared to navigate and shape the challenges of the 21st century.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
We recognise that each individual brings their own unique story and lived experience.
At Sherborne Girls, we don’t claim to have all the answers — but we are committed to listening, learning and leading respectful conversations.
We strive to treat every member of our community with dignity, fairness and kindness.
We value the rich diversity that strengthens our school and seek to build a true sense of belonging for all.
Our Values —
These values underpin every part of the transformative education we offer — in the classroom, on the playing field, on stage and in the world beyond school.
The golden thread running through every story we help shape. Everything we do at Sherborne Girls is grounded in five core values that shape our culture and guide every girl’s journey:
Environmental Responsibility
Sherborne Girls recognises an environmental and climate emergency at a global, national and local level.
We are acting to minimise our negative impact on the environment by focusing on four key areas: waste; operational energy use; estate development and transport.
As an organisation we aim to be carbon-neutral by 2030 through:
- Increasing understanding amongst staff, pupils and our wider community.
- Reducing our carbon footprint.
- Promoting courage, adaptability and resilience to influence change.
Sherborne Girls was the first school to sign up to Operation Future Hope and together with our Sherborne Schools Group partner, Sherborne Boys, and The Gryphon, we have already completed the successful re-wilding of large areas within our grounds.
We are proud to be featured in the Independent Schools Council, White Paper 2023 on Sustainability.
